Background

Learning a new hobby can be intimidating - especially when there’s the societal expectation that you have to be a master at it. Inkspire was made to offer a community with resources for all artists, from beginner to advanced creatives.

Problem

Beginner artists find difficulty learning art due to the lack of structured curriculums in the vast genre of art classes. Experienced artists struggle with building an art community and audience amidst competitive spotlights on social media. Both compete with each other to stay in the spotlight, ultimately seeing low engagements due to the ever changing algorithm.

Proposed Solution

Inkspire offers beginner to advanced level online art courses in a variety of genres, including video filming and editing to further hone social media skills to prompt more engagement. Inkspire has a built-in community of students and teachers, where artwork is shared and critiqued, helping artists build an audience and encourage growth.

Research

Summary

Interviews were conducted and results were organized into empathy maps to better understand the needs and pain points of the users. The main user group was established through research to be beginner and intermediate artists who want an access to a large community as well as reasonably priced art tutorials.

Findings

Beginner artists don’t know where to start and find it hard to find place for feedback
It’s hard to track progress by yourself
Hard to find program-specific art techniques
Lack of intermediate art resources

Personas

I made personas who represent target user of Inkspire. I took the time to make sure it included a diverse demographic to empathize and solve pain points from different groups. This gave me a direction in knowing what to focus on.

Competitive Analysis Findings

skillshare had the worst price transparency; everything from the homescreen is instantly locked behind a sign-up page, prompting that you need a membsership to even see their classes. Udemy only has a community for instructors. Domestika has a nice community for students to post their artwork.

Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia.
